Just finished M.T. Anderson’s Feed on CD.

I’m going to review it on Guys Lit Wire later this month, but the upshot will be:

Throw out “Brave New World,” “Feed” does it better. (And remember that I’m the guy who has been saying “Throw out “1984,” “Brave New World” does it better for years.)

Frankly, the book is already unsettling, but listening to all those horrible empty teens on the CD is that much worse. (The reader, David Baron Baker  is spot on. His portrayal of Marty in particular is chillingly good.) And then the CD cuts to the Feed and that’s even more much worse.
