Today I did my last scheduled author visit before April 2, when Stonewall comes out. So, really, this could be the last Qwikpick-focused show ever.
And it was incredible! If this is how it ends, then me and the Qwikpickers went out on top!
It was two classes of fifth graders who had all read the book and had all sorts of questions: Are the characters real? Did I really eat a Fried Baloney biscuit? Did I put my hand in the poop?
The poetry contest was one of the loudest ever. A haiku about a constipated dog won.
Getting kids riled up, acting like a nut and signing autographs — author visits are THE best part of being a kid’s author.
The challenge now is to come up with a Stonewall show that works as well as the Qwikpick show.
