To answer yesterday’s question: Blackwhite the Penguin (or was it Whiteblack) was created by Margaret and H.A. Rey but “lost” for many years.
You may have heard that during WWII, the Rey’s fled Paris on a bicycle loaded with four manuscripts. But it turned out there was a fifth! And though uber-editor Ursula Nordstrom apparently forgot all about it, another editor Anita Silvey finally got hold of it and published it in 1999 or 2000. The full-story, written by Silvey, is in the back of the book and is very interesting.
