Urban Hipsters host auto-bio graphics workshop in Seattle

Lasky and Stump, the urban hipsters behind Urban Hipster, are going to teach a class on how to write an auto-bio comic. Laksy is the man! If you are anywhere in the area, sign up now….

Comics and Autobiography
The recent success of graphic novels by creators such as Alison Bechdel, Harvey Pekar and Marjane Satrapi has demonstrated that comics can be a radically effective way of telling one’s own story. Integral to works such as “Fun Home” and “American Splendor” is the idea that ordinary people have extraordinary stories to tell. As this class explores different ways of telling autobiographical stories through comics, we will write and draw from our own experience, leading to the creation of a self-published, autobiographical mini-comic. Writer/artists from all backgrounds and levels of ability are welcome.

  1. Just FYI, David Lasky also has a one night workshop in August as part of the 826 Seattle adult writing series.
