Sorry, it’s a poem for Miss Rumphius’s apology poetry challenge

Miss Rumphuis has the best poetry challenges going! (Snapfiction for a weekly prose challenge.)

This week Miss R., wants us to write an apology poem like that bit about eating plums by William Carlos Williams.

Here’s mine:

 I’m sorry

but we’ve had to remove

all the framed photos

of you

which you have so thoughtfully given us

each year

for so many years.

Our daughter’s

therapist

has finally traced her

unending and relentless

nightmares

to these  framed photos

of you

especially the one

of you

posing

at the grist mill.

We’ll miss the framed photos

of you

but fear we must do this

for her sake.

With deepest regret,

your loving son,

Sam
