Halloween-flavored stories, addendum

HOW COULD I HAVE OVERLOOKED THE GREATEST OF THEM ALL?????

Under Beginning Reader- Halloween Stories we have the incredible, irrreprrressible, redoubtable, SPOOKY, nervewracking, action packed, preposition packed “BEARS IN THE NIGHT.”

Just 109 words! But what a great, great story! Any scarier and it would be age-inappropriate. As it is, it’s an incredible tension-buildier.

The Berenstain Bears get a bad rap sometimes. But books like this and Inside Outside Upside Down and Big Bear Little Bear remind us that they had an incredible knack for turning strings of beginner words into real stories.

  2. The Spooky Tree is also a good one…
