mini review: Lucky’s 24-Hour Garage

You pick up a book like this and you go, “No way!”

And then you turn the pages and, yes, page after page of huge, dazzling, brilliant, perfect, unbelievable illustrations. I think we can call this one a tour-de-force. I think we can call Daniel Kirk “indefatigable.” (What happened to my new spell checker? I’ll just have to hope that’s right.)

This whole book is a throwdown. (By which one refers to a moment when an amazingly skilled person throws down their best work in one wild rip-roaring tumult. Or in this case one dreamy, poetic night at a garage.)
