A “getting published” timeline

Just a month to go until the book finally comes out.

What a road it has been.

It will be just under four years since I quit my job (See Quitting the Day Job) and started writing.

Here’s a timeline:

Summer 2003 – Started Writing

Winter 2003 – first positive feedback from an editor (on a book which still isn’t published or even close to getting published)

2004- hopes raised, crushed, raised, etc…

Winter 2005 – miserable from the strain of waiting and never hearing. Mental health in danger.

Spring 2005 – Got world’s greatest agent!!! (The turn of the tide!)

Fall 2005 – Book sells!

2006 – Working on book with world’s greatest editor. The book grows and improves under her care.

Spring 2007 – Finally get an actual copy of the book. But so many other things to worry about – will it sell? can I get my new manuscript published? The cycle goes on and on…..
